Twelve rectangular elements, arranged as a diptych, unfold like a silent score. Each, composed of eight vertical slivers, stretches its geometry into space. Six and six, separate yet bound, form two facets of the same enigma.
This work unveils the reverse of a painting—that hidden territory usually left in shadow. Here, the gesture is simple yet radical: to turn it around. The verso becomes the recto, and the hanging system, normally consigned to invisibility, lies bare before the eye. This disclosure establishes a new order of reading, where support ceases to be subordinate and becomes protagonist.
In the first sequence, the cable first appears disciplined, taut as a tightrope over emptiness. Soon it slackens, yielding, plunging into matter, vanishing only to reappear as if for a gasp of air. Each element records a metamorphosis: tension turns to release, presence slips into absence, clarity shifts towards enigma.
Then comes the hook: once faithful companion, now Atlas alone, bearing the weight of the module. Its role is inverted: from grapple it becomes pillar, from diversion to foundation. Yet it too fades, leaving the work suspended in an uncertain logic, as if upheld by invisible force. What began as temporary suspension becomes breath cut short, absence made permanent.
To expose the backstage is here to watch it vanish. Barely revealed, the mechanism retreats into its own disappearance, as though disclosure condemned it to erasure.
The second sequence replays the first in mirrored form. Each element is turned once more: verso of the verso, backstage of the backstage. An irony of gesture, unveiling a double already reversed. Yet this repetition reveals anew: the hook, thought absent, hides faithfully in its recess; the cable, cut short, survives only as a mute extremity.
One question lingers: where does the true reverse reside? In the first unveiling, or in its mirrored twin? The work suggests that the reverse never stands alone—it always summons another, and another, in an endless mise en abyme.
